Participants in the track and field leg of the 54th Annual National School Championships which begin today at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Camp Ayangana ground, warmed up for today’s events with heat sessions yesterday.
When Stabroek Sports visited the venue yesterday, organisers and officials were preparing their respective district teams for today’s activities which is set to commence with the official opening at the Camp Ayangana ground with overall defending champions North Georgetown of District 11 seeking to maintain their superiority.
Yesterday’s activities saw the respective zones participating in the 40km male cycle race and 25km female cycle race along with the swimming championship, which was held at the Aquatic center’s Olympic-sized pool located at Liliendaal.
