Splash, a bi-weekly University of Guyana (UG) students’ newspaper, has been launched with the aim of being a platform for students’ collective voices independent of the university’s administration.
Owned and managed by Sherod Duncan, a current communications student and a 2014 law graduate, Splash has its origins as a blog, ‘The Opinion,’ Duncan said in a press release issued on Wednesday.
He noted that Splash offers a bit of everything and caters particularly for the UG community. He said it will cover the activities, events, personalities and academia of both Turkeyen and Tain campuses and the student life of neighbouring Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE).
Splash, which will cost $100 per issue, intends to advance the interest of the university in a “fresh, useful, relevant and entertaining” manner, the release added.
