(Trinidad Express) Torrential rainfall swept across the east coast of Trinidad yesterday for the sixth consecutive day, worsening an already grim situation along the Manzanilla Mayaro Road, and in communities near the Ortoire River. As a result, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service issued a flood alert bulletin late yesterday.
The Ortoire River was said to be rising to dangerously high levels yesterday afternoon, and the low lying villages of Kernahan and Cascadoux were already being swamped by water. The level of flooding along the Manzanilla Mayaro Road, which collapsed in some places late Saturday night, was reported to be rising again.
