KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC-West Indies fast bowler Jerome Taylor says he is ready for battle ahead of his debut performance in the WICB Professional Cricket league (PCL) which began last weekend.
Taylor campaigns for the Jamaica franchise which tackles Barbados Pride at Windward Sports Club in second round action starting today.
The Jamaica franchise emerged from the opening round one point behind front runners Guyana Jaguars after a 13-run victory over Windward Islands Volcanoes.
“I’m looking forward to this game, and the games against Barbados are usually good,” Taylor told the Jamaica Observer before the players departed for Barbados.
“I will try to see how much I can give a good account of myself so that the youngsters [teammates] can grasp things as well”.
Taylor, who missed Jamaica’s victory over Volcanoes, last week due to “personal reasons”, replaces fellow pacer Jason Dawes in the squad for Friday’s clash.
Taylor, 30, who was plagued by a back-related injury, made an impressive return to four-day cricket last season capturing 25 wickets from eight matches to lead Jamaica’s bowling.
“It’s always a pleasure playing for Jamaica,” he said.
“This is where I started so whenever I have the time and I’m here and called upon it is a joy to me”.
Their opponents and reigning champions Barbados Pride, finished the first round on in third position on eight points after rain wrecked their chances of pushing for victory against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.
