Ten students from Nigeria, Venezuela, Guyana, Congo and India currently attending the Texila American University (TAU) will compete for the titles of Mr and Miss Texila American University 2015 in their second annual pageant on the night of November 29 under the theme ‘A Royal Affair’.
The ‘Affair’ is billed for the National Cultural Centre and will feature a cultural atmosphere where the rich cultural diversity of TAU will be showcased by the students who have come from Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.
According to a press release, the cultural segment promises exotic dances, fashion display, drama and talents from around the world. “The TAU cultural event is one of a kind with rich originality and ethnic diversity,” the release said.
Last year saw the crowning of the first Mr and Miss Texila American University: Bonaventure Atulomah of Nigeria and Umadevi Bux of Guyana.
The show starts at 20:00 hrs. Tickets cost $1500 and can be uplifted from the National Cultural Centre’s Box Office and TAU Medical School Building, Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara; TAU Campus 2 at the Critchlow Labour College.
Funds garnered from these events are used for community outreach programmes by the student body.
