(Trinidad Express) A 33-year-old Freeport woman was gunned down outside a bar on Sunday night.
Seema Balkaran, of Tiwarie Extension North, was liming in the carpark at Tom’s Bar, Arena Road, Freeport, with friends when she received a call on her cellphone around 8.10pm.
Police said Balkaran, who was unemployed, walked away from her friends to take the call.
Balkaran, divorced and the mother of a 14 year old boy, was standing near the roadway when a silver Honda Civic car pulled alongside the group of friends. Police said the front seat passenger pushed his arm out the window and opened fire, hitting Balkaran in the upper part of her body.
Balkaran ran a short distance and collapsed. The car sped off.
The body was viewed by district medical officer Dr Babu Reddy and ordered the removal to the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
