A post-mortem examination on the body of an airport employee found in a water reservoir on Sunday revealed that he died of compression injuries to the neck and asphyxiation.
According to the father of the deceased, Jagat Jacobs, the post-mortem examination that was conducted on the body of Chris Andrew Jacobs on Monday revealed that he died as a result of drowning, along with other contributing factors which include, compression injuries to the neck and asphyxiation.
Jagat also said that he didn’t want to give his mouth liberty to rule out anything. He also said that an investigation was launched and the police have one person in custody.
‘A’ Division Comman-der, Clifton Hicken told this publication yesterday that investigations are ongoing and the person in custody is not a suspect but is assisting in the investigation.
The body of 26-year-old Jacobs, who was a maintenance engineer at the Cheddi Jagan Internation-al Airport, Timehri was discovered on Sunday at around 1:30pm after several attempts by his employer to locate him after a reported assault and a resulting altercation sometime after 11pm on Saturday.
