Students of St. Rose’s High School and St. Agnes Primary were evacuated from the building yesterday morning after wires began to spark.
A teacher who requested anonymity, told this newspaper yesterday that the sparking occurred at around 11am in the Head Mistress’s office. She quickly alerted staff to evacuate the children.
It is unclear what caused the sparking.
When Stabroek News visited the schools yesterday the children were at a safe distance across the road with worried looks upon their faces as teachers tried to maintain order.
It was only around 11:30am that the children were seen re-entering the building.
