Woman charged with abusing father ordered to vacate his house

A woman was yesterday ordered to seek lodging elsewhere after the court found that she had been abusive to her father at his premises.

It was alleged that on November 24 at Montrose, East Coast Demerara, Bibi Azeez, 41, broke down her father’s gate and when Abdool Kadeir, 62, went out to confront her, she shoved him.

Azeez told the court the allegations are fabricated and she did not know why she was in court. This prompted Magistrate Alex Moore to ask her if she was really befuddled about her appearance. “Something about a gate,” the woman replied.

Her father was then asked to recount the events that led to the altercation. He said, “Since 2004, when me wife dead, is problem all the time, for months after months. She want me dead!”

The man said his daughter was lazy and has been abusing him for years, and according to him, she had told him that he could not put her out as it was her mother’s house.

Though she was quick to deny it, her father continued that she had once picked up a knife and a chopper and driven him out of the house.

The man then asked the court to ask his daughter to return certain documents concerning his house to which she responded that they had been destroyed in the 2005 flood.

Kadeir told the court that it was not only his daughter who has been tormenting him, but her children as well.

The man said he was tired of his daughter. He said he had worked hard to build that house with his wife, saved his money and did the manual labour himself.

“I got another daughter, that build she own house,” he said and turning to Azeez, asked, “wha you got? Nothing. The lil one turning she own key, but you want dadee house.”

Addressing the court, he continued, “She does come home with liquor in she head and want be abusive.”

The magistrate then asked Kadeir what would be his solution. He responded, “I want she and she children get the hell out of my house.”

When the court asked Azeez if her father’s story was all fabricated, she said, “I only shake the gate.”

Not convinced by Azeez’s claims, the magistrate told her, she should have nothing to say to her father. She was placed on her own recognisance, bonded to keep the peace and ordered to vacate the premises by January 26, 2015.
