My grandson who is 2 years 4 months became ill in the wee hours of Tuesday November 25. The best thing as we saw it was to take him to the Festival City Clinic where he was registered.
To my daughter’s and my surprise he was refused attention; the attendant said the child did not look sick, but the doctor would not see him because we did not have the original clinic card (we had a photocopy of the card).
The copy showed the dates of attendance at the clinic and the vaccines which were given. The attendant suggested we return next Tuesday.
We took the child to the St Joseph’s Mercy Hospital where the very same copy of the card was used; of course he saw the doctor and was treated.
Could the Ministry of Health inform us about this new policy which refuses attention to persons who seek their services? What is the purpose of community clinics with insensitive and unfriendly staff? Who are they providing services for?
It is my desire to have this matter investigated as soon as possible.
