Divisional Commander Senior Superintendent Ian Amsterdam, today visited the home of Asif Rahim at Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD, where they met with his reputed wife Sursattie Chandrapaul, children, and other relatives, a statement from the police said.
The Divisional Commander sympathised with the family while expressing concern over the allegations surrounding Rahim’s demise and assured the family and relatives that every effort will be made to ensure that the investigations are completed as early as practicable.
Rahim died yesterday amidst allegations that he was assaulted by the police while in custody over the last weekend. The matter is being investigated by the Police Office of Professional Responsibility. This police photo shows the commander sympathising with the family.
