Defending National and Georgetown champs Queen Street Tiger Bay maintained their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages, edging Tucville 1-0 when the Guinness Greatest of the Streets Georgetown leg continued on Wednesday.
Deon Alfred found the back of the net at the National Cultural Centre tarmac in the must win match-up compliments of a seventh-minute conversion. Racing down the right side of the field, the wily Alfred slotted his first-time right-footed effort down the middle of the goal, after receiving a left-sided Jason Fredericks pass following a two-on-one situation with the final defender.
With the win, Queen Street Tiger Bay move on to three points from two games and will require a win in their final group match-up against North Ruimveldt to progress to the next round.
Due to the loss, Tucville remain on zero points from two games and have been eliminated from the tourney. They will now face-off against group leaders West Back Road in their final group fixture.
In the fifth match-up, Albouystown-B secured their berth to the knockout round, edging former champs Leopold Street 2-1 on penalty kicks after normal time finished 0-0 in the battle for the ghetto.
Also claiming a spot in the knockout round was former title holders Hope Street Tiger Bay who overcame arch-rivals Laing Avenue by a 1-0 score line in the sixth fixture of the night.
Veteran forward Dwayne Dickson settled the outcome in the third minute, slotting home to the centre of the net after receiving a right-sided pass following a two-on-one situation with the last defender.
The seventh match-up of the night saw Globe Yard moving one step closer to the knockout stages as they downed former champions Back Circle 1-0.
On target in the 16th minute with a left sided strike into the empty net after collecting a right-sided Leon Roberts pass was Anthony France.
In the fourth engagement, California Square defeated Adelaide Street, Charlestown 3-2 on sudden death kicks after normal time failed to settle the fixture with the scores locked on two goals apiece.
Anthony Darlington led the comeback win with a second half double in the 19th and 21st minutes. Marlon Cole and Dellano Howes were on target in the loss in the fifth and 16th minutes correspondingly.
In other results, North East La Penitence blanked Riverview by a 3-0 margin while Cross Street squeaked past Alexander Village 2-0 on penalty kicks after normal time ended 1-1.
In the second fixture, East Front Road defeated North Sophia 2-1 on penalty kicks after regulation time finished nil-all.
