FE Pollard Primary squeaked past Tucville Primary by a 1-0 margin in the rain curtailed second day of the inaugural Health 2000 Guyana Incorporated Girls Pee Wee football tourney yesterday, at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.
Omefia Langeller netted the fixture’s only goal in the sixth minute, placing her right-footed effort into the bottom left-hand corner after receiving a right-sided pass within the centre of the penalty box.
With the win, FE Pollard move onto six points from two games while Tucville remain on one point from two matches. The second matchup of the day saw North Georgetown Primary and St Stephen’s Primary battling to a nil-all stalemate.
Due to the draw, both teams move onto four points from two games. However North Georgetown remain at the top of Group A due to their superior goal difference of +2 against St Stephen’s +1.
In the first matchup of the day, West Ruimveldt and East La Penitence scraped to a 0-0 draw. With the draw, both sides secured their first point of the tournament.
Nonetheless, West Ruimveldt remain in the third position in Group A due to their better goal difference of -1 against East La Penitence’s -2. The three remaining matchups of the day were rescheduled due to a waterlogged playing area.
