Score’s Even excels at Rising Sun meet

Score’s Even produced a powerful late surge to win the feature A and Lower seven-furlong event of the Champions of Champions meet yesterday at the Rising Sun Turf Club.

The seven-year-old grey gelding ridden by jockey Rad Drepaul led CP Got Even by three lengths with Princess She is Not a close third.

For the win, Score’s Even’s handlers of the Simply Royal Stables pocketed a hefty $1M and avenged recent losses to CP Got Even and Princess She Is Not.

Appealing Harvest, the outsider of the seven-strong field, along with Princess She Is Not made the running until being overtaken by Guyana’s premier trotter.

The two thoroughbreds stole a march on the pack to lead into the final straight.

And then the race started to unfold.

Score’s Even pinned its ears back and went clear of Princess She Is Not, taking along another fast finisher, CP Got Even and Curfew Tower in his gallop.

However, with one breathtaking surge over the final furlong, Score’s Even, prepared by its relieved owner, Dennis Deoroop seemingly never tired, changed gears again to leave CP Got Even, the Guyana Cup winner in its wake to claim the stakes and the champion’s trophy.

Princess She Is Not who shockingly upset Score’s Even on October 12 was guided by Razack to a third place finish, while the hard charging Curfew Tower finished fourth.

Appealing Harvest (fifth) tired on the stretch and never got into contention under jockey Colin Ross.
