Tony Singh and Chris Etwaroo, who told a city court that they live in a market, were yesterday remanded to prison on a theft charge.
It is alleged that on November 29, at Lamaha Street, Queenstown, they stole a flex cable and electrical wires, carrying a total value of $90,000, which was the property of Adam Holding.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor Michael Grant said a security guard saw the men and informed the police, who subsequently arrested them. The stolen items were recovered on the men, he stated. Grant, in objecting to the defendants being granted bail, also pointed to their criminal records, including numerous convictions.
Singh and Etwaroo were subsequently remanded to prison until December 9, when they will again appear in Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 10.
