A man was yesterday remanded to prison after being accused of stealing a phone from his neighbour’s home.
Although Jevon Roberts gave his address as 16 Section C, Sophia, Magistrate Ann McLennan was told that he stole a $75,000 cellphone from his neighbour at Hill and Sussex streets, in Albouystown, on November 29.
It is alleged that he stole the phone from the home of Ramcoomar Durajhan.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that Roberts is Durajhan’s neighbour and since the theft he was still going to the man’s premises at nights.
Jones objected to bail based on the fact that Roberts did not give the address he provided to the court to the police and he also allegedly admitted to stealing the phone when confronted.
Jones said if bail were granted, Roberts would not return for trial.
As a result of the objections, Roberts was remanded and is to make his next court appearance on December 16 before Magistrate Dylon Bess.
