A 13-year-old boy is now in a critical condition at the Suddie Public Hospital after he was involved in an accident on Tuesday.
According to information, Noel Sukhai a second form student of the Anna Regina Secondary school was attempting to cross the Hampton Court Public Road at around 12:30 pm when he was struck by a motorcycle.
Speaking with Stabroek News, Grace Sukhai, the mother of the injured child, said her son did not attend school that day because of a recent death in the family.
“My father died earlier in last week so we are making preparations for the funeral so that is the reason Noel did not go to school,” she said. “Yesterday I was at Bush Lot and I called home to ask Noel to bring something for me and that is when the accident happen. He said that he was about to cross the road when the bike hit him and he didn’t know anything after that.”
The boy was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the hospital.
“According to what I hear the man who was riding the motorbike was drunk. He was also taken to the hospital,” Grace Sukhai said.
The woman said that her son sustained injuries to his head, his right leg which is broken and bruises about his body.
“My son is lying in a hospital bed crying out for pain.
The doctors are considering to transfer him to Georgetown Hospital because a bone on the foot that break is showing and it jus deh push out,” the woman said.
The motorcyclist also sustained injuries and is also a patient at the Suddie Public Hospital.
The police are conducting investigations.
