A man who pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cannabis was yesterday fined $20,000 together with four weeks community service.
Alex Pickery pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on December 2, in Georgetown he had in his possession four grammes of cannabis.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones, in relating the facts of the charge, told the court that on the day mentioned in the charge at 17:00 hrs on Cornhill Street, police conducted a search on the defendant which revealed the suspected narcotics in his left side pants pocket.
The 24-year-old Meadowbrook man who could not produce the total for the fine was given one week to pay the outstanding amount, while he was ordered to perform four weeks’ community service at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court with immediate effect, in default he will be imprisoned for six months.
