A 29-year-old man was yesterday granted $70,000 bail after he denied the charge of possession of narcotics read to him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts’.
It is alleged on November 29, Travis Sobers of Lot 9 Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, had in his possession 10 grammes of cannabis.
Sobers pleaded not guilty to the charge read to him by Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Attorney Adrian Thompson asked for reasonable bail to be granted to Sobers because the cannabis was found in a taxi and three persons were in it, one of whom was held and the other granted bail.
He added that the cannabis was found in a bag and Sobers was not the only one who had access to it.
Prosecutor Jones had no objection to bail which was granted in a total of $70,000,
Sobers is to make his next court appearance on January 19 before Magistrate Judy Latchman.
