Two being questioned over stolen cars in North Ruimveldt

Two persons are assisting the police with their investigation into the discovery of two hijacked cars at a residence in Hummingbird Street, North Ruimveldt, according to Divisional Commander Clifton Hicken.

He said that at the moment those persons are being interviewed.

Police had said in a press release that it was based upon investigations conducted that at about 1130 hours on Tuesday, ranks recovered the stolen motor vehicles at the Georgetown residence.

The vehicles, the police said had been taken away from the owners during recent armed robberies.

Additionally, during a further search of the building, thirty–five .32 rounds were found.

A resident of the area had told this newspaper that numerous ranks in uniform and civilian clothing descended on the house and spent at least two hours in the area conducting investigations. Before they left the two stolen vehicles were towed away.

According to the man, at the time police arrived the person linked to the cars was not at home. The man lived on the lower flat of the two-storey building and ranks had to break down the door to gain entry.
