The cream of the nation’s musclemen and women along with Surinamese rivals will display rippling abdominals, well-defined quadriceps and sculpted arms among others in the highly-anticipated Flex Night International Body Building and Fitness Show tonight at the National Cultural Centre.
For the first time on the Flex Night International stage the Men’s Physique segment will be contested along with the customary, Mr Flex Night, Ms Bikini and Ms Best Legs categories.
This year’s event promises to be of a higher standard since many of the athletes are seasoned and have competed in many shows before. When interviewed, the gladiators promised to bring their ‘A’ game to the stage.
A thrilling night is envisioned.
The musclemen will be placed in the four standard categories: bantamweight, lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight along with the two categories for the women.
For the Ms Bikini Contest, judges will analyze body shape, tone, symmetry, complexion, poise presentation and overall condition. Also, they will be looking for a fit, toned feminine body that displays proper conditioning. Contestants will be judged individually and in group comparisons.
The show will also feature special guest, Suriname’s first IFBB Pro, Eddy Wilson who is the coach of two of the Ms Bikini contestants from the Dutch-speaking nation.
Notable names that will be onstage include former Mr Guyana Sylvan Gardner, Clint Duke, current Novices champion Sylvester Andrews, Godfrey Stoby, Emmerson Campbell, Fiano Spencer, dance aerobics instructor and winner of the 2014 Fitness Paradise Miss Bikini contest, Shawnell Warner (Miss Flex Night Bikini 2012 winner), Marissa Lowden, Sonia Cummings and Mahaila Goodluck. According to Managing Director of Flex Night Inc Donald Sinclair, “there will be 40-plus males and 10-plus females on the stage.”
Admission to the venue costs $1,500 and the event will commence at 18:00 hrs.
Besides Fitness Express and Southland International Inc, some notable sponsors include the Trophy Stall, IPA Pharmacy, Colour’s Boutique, Copa Airlines and Gizmos and Gadgets.
The previous Flex Night International was held in 2012. Suriname’s Koese Soepe an IFBB pro was the victor followed by another pro bodybuilder, US based Rawle Green and two-time Mr Guyana, Kerwin Clarke. See you there. (Emmerson Campbell)
