Enterprise Primary continued their unbeaten showing in the inaugural Health 2000 Guyana Incorporated Girls Primary Schools football event, dismantling South Ruimveldt 3-0 yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.
Aaliyah Elaine opened the scoring in the very first minute with a strike to the right side from within the centre of the area. She doubled her tally 19 minutes later compliments of a penalty kick conversion into the top right hand corner, following a handball infringement.
The win was completed in the 29th minute as Elaine sealed her hat-trick with a finish to the left corner from within the centre of the penalty area.
In their second matchup of the day, Enterprise defeated St Margaret’s by an identical 3-0 score line. Alliana George broke the deadlock for the winners in the seventh minute, turning and smashing her effort from the right side of the box, into the lower left hand corner.
Elaine increased their lead in the 13th minute through a penalty kick finish to the right side of the goal. George then netted her double three minutes later to complete the win with a strike down the middle of the goal.
With the wins, Enterprise qualified for the knockout stage with nine points from three games. Also qualifying for the knockout round with a perfect record of three wins from as many matches was F E Pollard Primary with a 2-0 defeat of Stella Maris.
Jealena Rollins netted the opener for the Kitty-based side through a 13th minute strike to the lower left corner. Omefia Langellier then sealed the result with an effort to the right side of the goal from inside the 18-yard area.
In other results, North Georgetown and West Ruimveldt played to nil-all while Tucville defeated Smith Memorial via a walkover. Stella Maris also earned a walkover victory from Smith Memorial.
The eighth matchup of the day saw South Ruimveldt defeating St Pius 1-0 compliments of Keiara Phillips’s 14th minute effort.
Meanwhile, in the fifth encounter, East La Penitence and St Stephen’s played to a 1-1 draw with Alliyah Collymore netting for East La Penitence in the 26th minute and Odelli Stranghn equalising for St Stephen’s two minutes later.
In the third matchup, St Margaret’s and St Pius battled to a 1-1 stalemate. Makayla Eman gave St Pius the early lead through a 3rd minute strike. However, St Margaret’s earned a share of the spoils compliments of a Crystal Newton 19th-minute strike. The action is slated to continue at the same venue on December 13 with the quarterfinal section.
The teams that have automatically qualified for the knockout stage are Enterprise, F E Pollard, North Georgetown, St Stephen’s, Tucville and South Ruimveldt. Qualifying as the best two third ranked sides are Stella Maris and West Ruimveldt.
