The police are investigating the death of an East Coast Demerara businessman, who was shot and killed during a gun-point robbery at his Mango Landing shop yesterday morning.
Dead is Linden Mc Almon, 51, of lot 72 Rabindra Street, Annan-dale, East Coast Demerara.
According to a police press release, at about 1.30 am yaesterday, three men, one of whom was armed with a firearm and the others with knives, entered Mc Almon’s shop at Mango Landing, Essequibo River. The release added that the bandits held the man up, shot him and robbed his wife Maureen Mc Almon of Jewellery, before making good their escape.
When contacted, his niece Alicia Mc Almon, told Stabroek News that the family got a call about 3 am from Maureen about the incident. “Nothing was wrong with her,” the niece pointed out, as she further mentioned that the woman was held by the police briefly before being released. Moreover, she added that the dead man’s son and daughter have since ventured into the area, identified his remains and are awaiting the release of the body from the mortuary.
Mc Almon was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mahdia Hospital and police investigations continue into the robbery /murder.
