Dynas Ravens clinched their berth in the finale of the Phillip George Legacy (PGL) Memorial Basketball tourney, dismantling arch-rivals and tourney hosts Bounty Colts 85-68 on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Trailing by a 35-34 score line at half time, Ravens would rally in the pivotal third period as they outscored Colts by a 30-13 margin to take a 64-48 lead going into the final period. Ravens would then seal the matchup in the fourth quarter, outscoring Colts once more by a 21-20 margin.
Akeem Kanhai led the offence for the winners as he netted 22 points. Supporting with figures of 13, 12 and 11 points were Ryan Gullen, Jermaine Slater, Marlon Rodrigues and Tyrone Hamid correspondingly.
In the second semi-final encounter, the Republic Bank Nets overcame derby rivals Pepsi Sonics 75-61. Veteran shooting guard Mortimer Williams led the Nets with 20 points while Antwaun Austin contributed 11 points in the win.
Registering a game high 25 points in the loss inclusive of five three- pointers was Trevor Smith while Collis Pluck supported with 11 points.
In the third division section, Colts and Eagles will contest the finale following victories over Plaisance Guardians and the University of Guyana respectively.
Colts defeated Plaisance Guardians by a 63-55 score in the feature semi-final. Leonard Primo and Errol Dryden led the winners with 16 and 12 points respectively. Netting a game high 21 points in the loss was Colwin Nurse while Kelvin Yorrick supported with 17 points.
In the second semi-final matchup, Eagles blew away the University of Guyana 73-55. Kevin Higgins led the scoring in the win with 15 points while Travis Belgrave, Lyndon Wilson and Kheon Evans netted double figures of 11, 11 and 10 points correspondingly in the huge win.
Top scoring for the Turkeyen unit with a game high 19 points was Quincy Easton. Supporting with 13 and 10 points was Dwight McKinnon and Sherlan Gillis respectively.
