The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) donated a complete cricket gear kit to the Skeldon Estate Cricket Club on Sunday, as part of its countrywide outreach programme.
GCB President Dru Bahadur made the donation at the Port Mourant Cricket Club ground. He said the GCB is very pleased with the performance of the national cricket teams and it is committed to working with clubs across the country to identify and hone new, young talent.
The GCB head noted that Skeldon and the Upper Corentyne area continue to produce many talented players for Guyana and the board is pleased to support the clubs that groom these players. He also noted that Berbice boasts many clubs and the board is trying to provide aid to as many as possible.
Bahadur reminded the gathering that board members visit the county often to find out about the challenges and concerns of the cricket clubs. He then thanked the government, GuySuCo and Port Mourant Cricket Club President Vickram Seubarran for the investments made to enhance the ground.
He also thanked Linden Murray, the Community Development Officer at the Skeldon Estate for accepting the gift and urged him to make sure that the players make full use of the gear.
Murray thanked the GCB head for recognizing that the Skeldon Estate Cricket Club needed gear and for providing it. He also pledged to ensure that they are used for the intended purpose.
