Five months after Candy Rawlins was knifed to death, her husband Vidol Rawlins who is wanted by the police in connection with the stabbing, was spotted in Georgetown.
According to ‘D’ Division Commander Senior Superintendent Ian Amsterdam, police received information suggesting that Rawlins, who allegedly stabbed the 30-year-old Candy at their Crane, West Coast Housing Scheme home on July 18, in the presence of her 11-year-old daughter, was spotted in the city last week.
However, Amsterdam told Stabroek News that checks proved futile. He further mentioned thatthe police are still searching for the suspect.
In August, the Office Director of Public Prosecutions had recommended that Rawlins be charged with Candy’s murder, when or if he is arrested.
It was reported that Candy was discovered dead by neighbours at 08:45 hrs, after her 11-year-old daughter, who had been tied to a chair with her mouth taped, managed to escape and raised an alarm.
