Lawrence George, who was allegedly held by police with 20 grammes of marijuana, was remanded to prison yesterday.
Prosecutor John Singh told Magistrate Zamilla Ally at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court that George, 35, was observed acting suspiciously when he spotted an anti-crime police vehicle.
The man then allegedly went into his pocket and threw a transparent plastic bag on the ground, prompting ranks to investigate. They subsequently discovered the cannabis, Singh said.
George pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
Singh objected to bail and the court upheld his objection and remanded George to prison until January 8, 2015.
