A gold miner is now a remanded prisoner after being charged with using a shotgun to rob a woman in Mahdia.
Juan Reynolds, 37, allegedly robbed Susan Austin of a quantity of cash and valuables, amounting to $210,000 on November 6, at 111 Miles Mahdia.
Reynolds pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read to him by city magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Two.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail, based on the nature and gravity of the charge and the penalty it attracts. Jones also stated that personal violence was used with the shotgun during the robbery.
Reynolds, who was unrepresented during the court hearing, was remanded to prison and the case was adjourned to January 19, at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
