A taxi driver, accused of breaking a bond to keep the peace and then threatening to kill his girlfriend, has been remanded to prison.
Shawn Wills, 38, of 137 Sparendaam Housing Scheme pleaded not guilty to the charge that he threatened to kill Ruth Ann Budram.
Prosecutor John Singh also told Magistrate Zamilla Ally at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read, that other charges will be brought against the man after he allegedly cursed two police officers while in custody and bit one of them, causing injuries.
Singh told the court that Wills was previously placed on a bond to keep the peace after he and his girlfriend had a misunderstanding. However, he said Wills ended up jumping his girlfriend’s fence and then cursed her and also told her he was going to kill her.
Singh objected to bail, while noting that Wills was bonded to keep the peace before and the fact that more charges are to be brought against him.
Magistrate Ally subsequently remanded Wills to prison and the matter will be called again on January 7, 2015.
