Guyana’s junior men’s hockey team began in their tour of Trinidad and Tobago in a positive manner defeating Paragon Hockey Club 2-1 on Monday.
Aroydy Branford led the local side with a second half double while the home side netted a consolation goal from the penalty spot compliments of a strike from Trinidad and Tobago international Akim Toussaint.
Guyana will now faceoff with Trinidad and Tobago’s national junior unit in a three-match series which commenced last evening and ends tomorrow night. The local side is expected to return to local shores on Friday.
This developmental tour is the first step in the board’s ambitious plan to develop and expose the group to international competition with the intention of building a team for the 2016 Junior Pan American Cup in Toronto, Canada.
