Richard Latif’s all-round performance helped set up a comprehensive win for Regal who trounced SPR Enterprise by 111-runs in last weekend’s Samuel Kingston-sponsored 20 overs-a-side tapeball match played at Everest Cricket Club.
Regal, batting first, posted 222-8 off their allotted overs with Latif making 28. He returned with the ball to capture 5-25 as SPR Enterprise was dismissed for 111 in 15 overs.
Latif and Martin Dutchin had earlier put on opening stand of 52 before Dutchin went for 27. Safraz Esau top scored with 31 while Randy Budhu struck 23 and Ricky Sargeant 22.
Danny Singh, Mark Harold and Wazir Husain grabbed two wickets each for SPR.
The SPR Enterprise team which included several guest players from some of the top teams in Demerara never looked threatening in their reply with
Amir Nizamudeen and Greg Singh scoring 22 and 17 runs respectively.
Budhu (3-29) then duly supported match MVP Latif as the two bowlers shared eight wickets. For their efforts Regal pocketed $100,000. The game was organized by Kingston.
