Cabinet this week cleared a $179.6M contract for bridges to the access roads leading to the planned Corentyne River bridge.
The bridge over the Corentyne is to be built as part of a South American integration project. It is unclear when it will take off.
GINA also reported that Cabinet gave its no-objection to a $217.6M contract for the supply of spares for vessels. A $50M contract for the dry-docking of MV Kanawan and MV Sabanto was also given the green light as was a $16.8M contract for the supply of spares for the maintenance of buoys and a beacon.
A contract for $37.5M for road safety public awareness was also cleared, GINA said. A contract for $50M was also given the thumbs up for the training of 17 air traffic controllers in the area of controlled surveillance. GINA also said that a $20.24M contract for the single sourcing of a consultancy firm to evaluate a nurses training programme in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme was also cleared.
