The Alliance For Change (AFC) on Thursday congratulated the US and Cuba for the normalization of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
AFC Parliamentarian Cathy Hughes during a press conference said that the party congratulates US president Barack Obama for this “historic and courageous move”, which has escaped some ten US presidents.
According to Hughes, the AFC hopes that the diplomatic opening would lead to the eventual abandonment of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba.
At the same time the AFC praises “the flexible postures”, not only of Obama but of President Raul Castro to facilitate rapprochement that began with a casual ceremonial hand shake in South Africa last December.
