At approximately 12:00 midnight yesterday, MARAD said that a Motor Vessel capsized in the Essequibo River and the Captain of the vessel is reportedly missing.
The Captain’s name is given as Patrick Reynolds, age 65 of Big Hope, Essequibo.
Six other persons who were also in the vessel which was travelling from Itaballi to Teperu in the Essequibo River were subsequently rescued and taken to shore safely by a passing vessel, MARAD said.
MARAD and the Bartica Police are investigating this incident, and are also trying to locate another vessel which allegedly caused the vessel to capsize.
