Dredging in Essequibo River has been completed, the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said yesterday.
According to a press release from MARAD, the dredging was completed on November 30, 2014.
MARAD said the Steve N had commenced dredging in the Essequibo River at Chalmers Crossing on September 17. This, it added, was part of MARAD’s plan to dredge the shallow areas of the Essequibo River that currently impede the movement of ships.
Meanwhile, the Steve N is expected to conduct more dredging activities at New Amsterdam Stelling in the first quarter of the new year, it added.
