A man was sentenced to two months in prison after he admitted to the court that he had threatened to kill his 77-year-old grandmother.
According to Prosecutor John Singh, Anthony Balgobin, said he’s already a “jail man” and he would could kill his grandmother if he so desired.
The prosecutor said the man had a previous drunken altercation with his grandmother.
And the former magistrate of the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, Alex Moore, had ordered him to enrol in an alcohol rehabilitative programme, but he had failed to do so.
The grandmother, Rajkumari Balgobin, said she was cooking on Saturday when she heard loud talking outside her 120 South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara home. When she peeped through her window she saw her estranged grandson, Anthony Balgobin approaching her house with a series of curse words. The woman recalled her grandson saying, “(expletive) you, no (expletive) police can’t do me anything.”
The man then pelted her louvre window and broke it.
The man pleaded guilty when Magistrate Zamilla Ally asked him if the allegations were true and as a result he was sent to jail for the next two months.
