Dear Editor,
There is always a huge crowd waiting to pay bills and query accounts at the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company (GT&T) office at New Amsterdam (and I’m sure other locations). To add to the frustration, there you are standing in a very long line to pay the bill when persons who opted to have a seat (how stupid and crazy is that?) instead of joining the line, get up and position themselves in front of you, telling you that they were just taking a seat.
This is absolutely ludicrous. Not to mention pregnant women and senior citizens who can and will be positioned in front of you as well. Additional to these frustrations at these places, is the fact that there are only one and two tellers operating.
Upstairs at GT&T, where persons go to query bills and purchase other services, is also chaotic. Persons’ entire day has to be spent at these places. What a way to treat customers.
Instead of sending customers a coloured glossy page with Christmas greetings in every telephone bill dispatched this month, they should have saved the money and employed more people at their business offices. That makes better corporate sense.
Yours faithfully,
Leon Suseran
