A member of the Georgetown Prison band was yesterday remanded to prison, after he was charged with possession of narcotics. It is alleged that on December 9 at the Georgetown Prison, Keith Bailey, 34, who is currently serving a jail term for another matter, had in his possession 197 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. Bailey, originally a resident of Christianburg, Linden, pleaded not guilty to the charge read to him by Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 2.
However, attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat who represented Bailey told the court that his client is a musical person and on the day in question he was playing in the band when it was alleged that narcotics were found on the ground.
