A security guard of Fyrish, Corentyne lost his life after he was struck by a car at around 2:30 pm on Wednesday.
Reports are that Veith Stephen Mendonca was crossing the road when he was hit. He succumbed during surgery at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
A relative told this newspaper that the father of four suffered severe head injuries, broken limbs and internal bleeding. According to a police source, the driver of the car is still in custody and charges are likely to be laid upon completion of the investigations.
