A Guyanese man died in a hospital in Grenada after he was stabbed while at a party on Christmas Eve.
He has been identified as Ruis Mentore of Mahaicony.
A relative that Stabroek News spoke with last evening said that based on what she was told he was at a party when he was stabbed. It is believed that Mentore was “banked” and hit in the head before being stabbed. It is unclear how many stab wounds he sustained.
After the stabbing he was rushed to the hospital where he remained in a critical condition until he died several hours later.
The relative said that it is unclear whether he had any issues with anyone.
According to the relative, the father of one was staying with his mother at the time and was scheduled to return to Guyana next month. He had been on the island since August last year, the relative said.
On Mentore’s Facebook page his friends expressed their shock at his passing. In his last post dated December 22, he expressed his excitement at returning home to see his friends and family.
