A Mon Repos resident is now nursing a gunshot wound to his leg, after he was shot by man yesterday morning, in front of his home. Injured is Satran Sukhdeo, 41, of Block 8 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, who was shot in his left leg.
According to the man’s teenaged son, who was sitting on a swing in front of the premises, his father went to his vehicle to retrieve a hat. The young man said he saw two masked men exiting their neighbour’s yard, and they shouted “freeze” and pointed their guns in Sukhdeo’s direction. Sukhdeo, his son added, reached for his licenced firearm and fired at the two gunmen, injuring one. They returned fire, hitting Sukhdeo in the leg, before making good their escape through a nearby bush, via the neighbour’s yard.
A police press release stated that at about 4.45 am, Sukhdeo was shot to his left leg by two men, who allegedly discharged rounds at him, while he was coming out of his residence.
The release added that Sukhdeo is receiving medical treatment at a hospital and that investigations into the matter are in progress.
