A remigrant was yesterday discovered badly chopped aback his Linden home in what is believed to have been a robbery gone wrong.
The bloodied body of Kingsley Joseph, 66, of Wisroc Phase 3 Housing Scheme was found by his son in a clump of bushes.
Police said in a press release that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of the pensioner whose body was found with “suspected marks of violence” at about 06:00 hrs.
Stabroek News has since been informed that Joseph, who lived alone, had planned to pluck chickens with his son yesterday morning.
When his grandson visited the residence, however, he repeatedly called out to him but got no answer. The child alerted his father who made several telephone calls to Joseph but got no response.
Based on reports the man decided to visit his father’s home and when he arrived he noticed droplets of blood leading from the front porch of the one flat house to a nearby clump of bushes. On investigating he found his father’s corpse in a pool of blood.
This newspaper understands that Joseph apparently was dragged from the house to the bushes and robbery is suspected as the motive for the murder.
Joseph sustained chops to the back of the head, torso and hands.
It is claimed that the remigrant kept a substantial amount of money on his person. It is unclear whether anything was found to have been stolen from the house.
According to reports reaching Stabroek News, following the gruesome find, police discovered spades and other tools used for digging on the premises as though the robbers had intention of digging a grave to bury Joseph’s body.
The remigrant drove a left-hand drive Ford station wagon which he parked about 50 yards from his home in the sparsely populated and heavily vegetated squatting area. It is also suspected that he could have been attacked while walking to his home in the wee hours of the morning.
