The mother of a 14-year-old boy who went missing on Saturday, at a creek opposite Splashmin’s said yesterday that five suspects are now in custody at the Timehri Police Station.
Jankie Seetaram said her son Dhaniram Ramgopaul, aka, Ryan went missing after he told her he was going to the washroom.
Seetaram said someone called the bus driver who took her family to the creek yesterday afternoon and told him that the boy had been seen at Kuru Kuru, on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
Seetaram said the call was reported to the police, who went to Kuru Kuru and apprehended “a suspicious-looking young man.”
She said the police investigated further and saw three young men standing outside a flat unpainted concrete house. When the police approached the men, they ran away. They were chased down and apprehended. One of them, she claimed, told the police that a woman in the house knew about the child’s disappearance and the woman was also taken into custody.
When contacted, the officer in charge at the Timehri Police Station said the police are still investigating and were still searching for the boy.
The boy’s mother remains anxious and said she is hoping and trusting in God that her son turns up alive.
Both the police and family members had searched the entire creek for the boy on Saturday night. Seetaram said the search went on for hours.
Ramgopaul was last seen wearing a white vest and white trunks.
If anyone has information on Ramgopaul’s whereabouts they are kindly asked to contact the nearest police station or his mother on 673-4686.
