The Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) has announced that its three ferry vessels the Malali, Kanawan and Sabanto will be restarting their normal schedules as the dredging exercise on the Essequibo River has concluded.
The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) recently finished dredging the Chalmers area in the Essequibo River, the T&HD said in a press release.
The dredge Steve N started dredging the Chalmers area on September 17 and concluded on November 30, in keeping with MARAD’s plan to dredge and open-up the shallow areas of the Essequibo River so that ships can operate freely.
After a three-year hiatus, the Kanawan and Sabanto which ply the Parika-Supenaam route will now depart each stelling three times per day at 6am, 11am and at 4pm.
