A man was stabbed to death on Old Year’s night while drinking at a shop at Aracru, North West District (NWD).
Dead is Augustine Samuels, age 52 years.
Police said in a press release that the stabbing occurred at about 1930 hours.
Investigations so far have revealed that Samuels and another man, who is the suspect in this matter, were imbibing at a shop when the suspect became involved in an issue with the owner of the shop.
The owner of the shop managed to escape, whereupon the suspect attacked Samuels and stabbed him about his body, the release said, adding that Samuels was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mabaruma Hospital. The suspect has not yet been arrested.
This newspaper was unable to make contact with Samuels’ relatives. Aracru is a community close to the Guyana/Venezuela border.
