The West Bank Demerara contractor who reportedly shot himself with his licensed .32 firearm around 11 pm on Monday was only moments before said to be drinking with his girlfriend.
The man, 59-year-old Vidiadat Jaisari of Nismes who was also in the company of a bartender apparently ended his life after reportedly telling them that he was getting into his car to go home.
Shortly after he left they heard a loud sound and initially thought it was from a firecracker. But after realizing that something was amiss they ran out to check Jaisari’s car.
They then found him slumped in the driver’s side of the car covered in blood and the gun which had apparently fallen out of his hand was seen on the gear lever.
The incident occurred just in front of the bar at Pouderoyen where the man was consuming alcohol.
Reports are that the man had a problem with relatives which stemmed from gold jewellery that they had borrowed from him.
Investigators told this newspaper that the man had mentioned the problems he was having with his family, while drinking at the same bar about two weeks ago.
