The lifeless body of a security guard was yesterday morning discovered hanging on a fence at his work place 171, Crown and Peter Rose Sts, Queenstown, Georgetown.
The man has since been identified as Amzad Ali, 64, of Queenstown. Speaking to Stabroek News, Roshan Ali, the dead man’s nephew said that relatives were not fully aware of the circumstances surrounding his uncle’s death.
However, he noted that news reaching him was that his uncle might have suffered a heart attack.
Best Buy Auto Sales, the dead man’s employer did not give any information on the incident, however they noted that police are conducting an investigation into the matter.
Stabroek News understands that the security guard was in the habit of jumping the fence to buy Guinness and cigarettes. He was allegedly found hanging by his shirt.
Ali was said to have been living in Suriname and sharing a common-law relationship but after the relationship ended some time ago, he returned to Guyana. He leaves to mourn two sisters and one brother.
Relatives are awaiting a post-mortem examination, while police have launched an investigation into the matter.
