Sixty-two-year-old, Brian Devine is still hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was involved in an early morning accident on New Year’s Day.
When Stabroek News visited Devine yesterday at the hospital he said he is recovering slowly but said he was in a lot of pain.
He sustained broken legs, broken ribs, a broken hip, a fractured neck, head injuries and a damaged eye and is set for his first surgery tomorrow where steel will be placed in his hip.
This be followed by other surgeries.
The accident claimed the life of Devine’s friend, George Baker.
According to reports, Devine and 61-year-old Baker along with Anaynasa Thorne, 18, were standing at a stall on the eastern side of the eastern carriageway on Cemetery Road when motor car PNN 7977 ploughed into them.
The police issued a press release saying that their investigations revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle after he suffered a punctured tyre. He was taken into police custody.
