Four persons have pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and their cases are continuing before the court.
As part of its ongoing campaign against driving under the influence, the police have released details regarding the cases.
A police press release said that Balamiki Shamidhar of #47 Village Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2014-12-14 while driving motor car PNN 9716 on the Providence Public Road, EBD. The release said that he was found to be above the legal limit. He was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on 2014-12-19 where he pleaded not guilty. The matter is continuing before the court.
Temeshwar Jainane of Lot 300 Tuschen Housing, EBE, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2014-12-14 while driving motor vehicle BHH 6063 on the Providence Public Road, EBD, the release said. He was found to be above the legal limit. He was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on 2014-12-19, where he pleaded not guilty. The matter is continuing before the court.
Meanwhile, Oniel Belle of Lot 17 Station Street, Kitty, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2014-12-14 while driving motor vehicle BPP 4956 on the Providence Public Road, EBD. The release said that he was found to be above the legal limit. He was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on 2014-12-19 where he pleaded not guilty. The matter is continuing before the court.
Mahesh Ramsoondar of Lot 60 Covent Garden, EBD, the release said, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2014-12-14 while driving motor vehicle GFF 313 on the Providence Public Road, EBD. He was found to be above the legal limit and was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on 2014-12-19 where he pleaded ‘not guilty’. The matter is continuing before the court, the release added.
