The man accused of killing 41-year-old Seibert Moore after an altercation was yesterday remanded to prison after being arraigned with the capital offence at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Renard Romain was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on January 2 at Frenchman, Upper Essequibo, he murdered Moore.
No facts other than that stated in the charge were related to the court.
Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry informed the unrepresented Romain that he would be remanded to prison.
His matter has been transferred to the Linden Magistrate’s Court for January 13.
Police in a press release had stated that on the day of the incident at about 14:45 hrs, Moore, of Victory Valley, Wismar, was involved in an altercation with another man at Frenchman, during which he was stabbed to his body.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mackenzie Hospital.
